this was an in-class assignment for photojournalism a couple weeks ago. the entire class had to leave the classroom and find something “news worthy” in only one hour… as i was walking, i noticed a group of cops together, so of course i went closer and right as i was going to take the picture, a brute security guard confronted me and said “NO PICTURES!” while walking steadily towards me. since i was already acquainted with Ramos (bottom right) i asked him if i could take a picture for class. Ramos looked at his partner and said with a smile “he asked, its cool” and continues to smile while chewing his gum.. i realized how important it is to have people on the inside…The Departed style. Usually photographers will take pictures anyway, because that’s their jobs and we have the right. Thats why you should never be intimidated by them. so the two students apparently “stole” paper from our copy center…this caused 5+ cops to ‘interrogate’ them….
